Lately, with the pandemic causing significant changes in the way we operate our businesses and our personal lives, I have been spending time researching the body of neuroscience for insights into how we can better control our own futures. We now know that mindset, what you believe, is a critical key to innovation. Every product, innovation or social movement was started by the dream of one or a few people in a garage. They were usually called crazy….until the dream became reality.  Then all of the sudden they became a genius.  But dreamers are often not taken seriously.

Just recently I came across a really great documentary on the human condition and how we can be even more successful if we shift our focus from internal, ourselves and our business enterprises, to an  external focus on how we impact others in our lives and make a difference for the greater good.

The film is called the “Dreamer Documentary” and I had the opportunity to spend several hours with one of the producers of the documentary, Giovanni Marsico, in the past week. Gio is a successful entrepreneur having built a significant real estate business. He now spends his time promoting and supporting organizations that have a creative and innovation passion. The documentary is loaded with stories of how we as humans have great capacity for success if we just focus our energy in the right direction. Numerous thought leaders in the documentary show how we can make a difference in the world if we shine a beacon in the direction of others, rather than putting the spotlight on ourselves.

This film resource is chocked full of examples of how individuals created success out of difficult situations.  It provides clues of how to harness pain, like the strife of the pandemic, and turn it into fuel to make something bigger happen. The typical hero journey which makes up life on this planet.

The bottom line is that we are all born as unique human beings who are perfect.  What happens to most of us is that we are shaped and conditioned by experience to not always believe that we can be hero’s or innovators in our own right. We get feedback throughout our life and work that we may be less important, less capable, or less significant as others.

Questions we need to ask ourselves as business owners may be the following:  How do we help people understand their worth and potential?  How do we help our key executives lead with more innovation?  How do we leave a legacy for our families or do greater good for the planet as a result of the business enterprises we are now leading? As leaders of our families, how do we inspire creative thought?

The documentary is appropriate for a broad range of audiences, from our children to our workforce. You can view the documentary on a complimentary basis before it is released by going to www.dreamerdocumentary.com/

This documentary may not have all the answers, but I believe it is an inspirational film worth sharing with your family, your grandchildren and your workforce because of its  message that there is significant hope for the future if you follow a dream…persist…..become resilient….and take action.
